Re: ANAN G2 1K5 Shipping Update
They updated the specs on the booking page...1500W high power 800W low power (e.g. high duty cycle).
So 1500W SSB/CW and 800W FM/Digital

One thing you have to watch out for with I2C is that the ground line is good.
You might need isolated ground like for the I2C bus to avoid any RF that might be floating on the system ground.

Re: ANAN G2 1K5 Shipping Update
That's a pretty lousy reason. Anybody could modify a rig to do whatever....and kill the required side band suppression too for example. Manufacturers aren't expected to make their equipment hack proof. If it's not easily done than the FCC wouldn't require it. On the other hand if it's just a matter ...

From the G2 Saturn manual: The ANAN-G2 complies with FCC Part 97 rules for the Amateur Radio Service. It has been confirmed by the relevant authorities that the ANAN-G2 DOES NOT require FCC certification. Re: ANAN G2 1K5 Shipping Update
You have to have a radio to test before getting FCC testing. Can't make any significant changes to it (e.g. power supplies).
So all the FCC testing indicates is they have locked down the design and components and actually have one to test.

Re: ANAN G2 1K5 Shipping Update
It's my understanding that FCC approval is only needed if you sell radios INSIDE the U.S. Selling them from outside the U.S. I thought didn't require it. Am I wrong?
Nice to have so a USA rep can sell -- but no necessary.
I've bought all sorts of rigs that don't have FCC approval.

Re: Thetis & CW Skimmer
I had to run the VAC "Fixed" because without it the FT8 signals would show drifting.
non-Fixed is probably OK with CW.

Fortunately some good testing is finding problems before they ship out the 1st units.
We are converging on 0 days though!!

Re: Suddenly slow to power-on and 'apparent' RFI
So no noise with antenna disconnected?
In that case time to suspect a power supply somewhere -- you have 8KHz intervals going on which sounds like a switching frequency.
You should be able to find it with an AM radio tuned off-station.
Maybe a solar invertor recently installed in the neighborhood?

Re: Suddenly slow to power-on and 'apparent' RFI
If you select a different empty Rx antenna port is it still there? That will tell you if it's in the rig or in the antenna. And what does the wideband display look like? Unplug MIC 8KHz interference is not real common but others have seen it from different equipment. https://gearspace.com/board/so-m...

Re: CAT over TCP/IP rocks! And so does Hamlib!
As a follow up WinLink Express should work with rigctlcom. On the latest Hamlib we also have a new Thetis entry model 2054 -- older hamlibs will have to use 2048 (Flex/PowerSDR) So this command will establish at TS-2000 emulator on COM10 that most any app (other than HRD) can use to talk to Thetis o...

For WSJT-X and JTDX you can also use the TCP/IP port.
Just put this in the COM port area
192.168.1.1:13013
Or whatever IP:Port you have set up.

Re: CAT problem
Also in the latest Hamlib you'll now find a "Thetis" entry by itself.
Future improvements to Thetis will be in there and may deprecate the old entry eventually.

Not sure I can make the directions much clearer -- maybe I can create a youtube video.
It does require a cmd prompt or a batch file to start rigctlcom.

Re: CAT problem
You can use rigctlcom in Hamlib to connect to another VSPE port and Thetis. It was specifically designed to allow non-Hamlib programs to talk to other rigs. Hamlib support virtually all rigs in existence (I only have 1 request for a new Rhode&Schwartz rig outstanding). rigctlcom is a TS-2000 emu...
