As a new owner (serial number 0040) I experienced some problems when starting with the Anan 8000 DLE and PowerSDR 3.3.15.

Thanks to the excellent support of Abhi and Doug W5WC.

Now I have the schematics and I resolved the problems resulting from my misunderstood of the PowerSDR's setup.

On the air with a GS35b homebrewed amplifier, a Heil PR781 and a KT34.

Very nice SDR indeed

Hello Eric,

I do not own the 8000DLE so I cannot give you much first-hand help but do you have a copy of the User Guide?

https://apache-labs.com/al-downloads/1001/ANAN-USER-GUIDES.html

There is a lot of documentation floating around out there for the ANAN hardware but it's not all in one place and there is not as much with the 8000DLE at this point because it is so new. The "Useful Websites" link here in the forum may also be helpful:

Eric,

First of all, it bears mentioning that all Apache Labs radios, from the -10 to the -8000DLE, all use the exact same microphone connector wiring to the exact same CODEC IC.

If your microphone is not working, then, while it is possible that your radio could be broken, it is much more likely that you simply have something wrong either with the microphone cable and/or the radio settings.

If you look at the correct settings page in your software, and Page 30 of the user guide, it is pretty obvious what you should be doing in terms of wiring and settings:

Image

Normally tip is mic and ring is PTT, but you can switch this to ring = mic in the settings. Sleeve is always ground. No DC blocking capacitor is needed, simply turn bias on or off as required in the settings. Finally, you can enable or disable PTT.

If you are using a dynamic microphone, you will almost certainly need to turn on the 20dB mic boost option in Setup > Transmit. If it's a condenser mic you probably will not need that.

How are your microphones wired?

Scott
