CW TX Sidetone thru Headphone but not via PC Speaker

On CW transmit side-tone via headphone is ok, but no audible side-tone is coming thru the PC speakers.

Audio to PC speakers on RX is fine. VAC1 is working.

It's like there is a "mute vac1 on transmit" set... but I cannot find it.

This 7000 is the blue face and headphones and key are plugged into front panel.

I'm low on the learning curve so I expect I've missed something! :?

Tnx for the help
Rik

Sidetone is ONLY available via the headphone or speaker outputs on the ANAN unit itself. Sidetone was never implemented in Thetis (or PowerSDR before that) for VAC or the recently added cmASIO interface.

This is an unfortunate side effect of some very early software/firmware efforts that thought sidetone via Thetis was not possible. Of course that is not the case, but it's not something any developer has chosen to tackle.

Since you have a 7000 you can run QSK mode. In that mode the receiver is made to run in full duplex mode and you can get sidetone as a result of monitoring your own transmissions in that mode. However, I've found the latency to be too high for it to be a useful form of sidetone.

The solution to this problem is to use an external keyer with a sidetone generator rather than the internal keyer of the radio.

Thanks Scott, this is good to know. I've tried QSK on CW and I agree with you, the audio latency is too high to be useful. Rather than bypassing the internal keyer, I'm going to hang an external speaker off the 7000. I'm avoiding the rear speaker jacks.....maybe t-off the front headphone jack.
