I found a unboxing video on YouTube that the author claimed that the receive audio from the Raspberry Pi CM4 in the Ultra, sounds better than the audio from Thetis on the pc. Then, he mentioned he uses headphones. I am wondering if anyone has experienced better audio using the output from the radio to a set of external speakers. I know everyone hears things differently. What sounds good to me may not sound good to others. I can't imagine that the audio from the new radios is any better than the audio from my 8000DLE and Thetis. ( I use USB sound interface to studio monitors and a balanced microphone) I am wondering if anyone has actually done a comparison between the two other than this one person.

Audio from Thetis and piHPSDR using literally any openHPSDR compatible hardware from the original Hermes or even the Red Pitaya all the way through the G2 is essentially equivalent BEFORE it gets to the transducer (speaker).

More than anything else, the choice of transducer matters. Any comparisons between hardware and/or software MUST use the same audio transducer (speaker or headphones) else the comparison is not valid. In addition, one must use the same antenna and same receiver parameters (AGC, attenuation, etc.).

Scott, thank you. Your comments pretty much sums up my thoughts when I was listening to this guy's video and his comment about the G2 output on the radio itself being better than from Thetis on his pc. I just couldn't imagine there being any differences other than him wearing headphones.
