Odd shift when using WinKeyer

Noticed something peculiar just now.
For instance, I am tuned to 14,014.00 on CW, ready to transmit. When I get on my paddle to transmit, the TX frequency (as seen in VFO A) shifts by whatever amount the side-tone shift is set to, AND, the TX mode switches to USB. At times the mode stays on USB after I stop transmitting. At other times, the mode stays on CW as it should, after I stop transmitting. When I hit the "TUN" button in Thetis, the TX frequency does not shift. For example, with side-tone (as set in Thetis) is set to, say, 600Hz, my TX frequency as shown in VFO A indicates 14,013.40. The shift is only for the side-tone, not TX frequency.
I don't think I had seen this "behavior" previously.
Note, the instructions of WinKeyer say that side-tone and "Iambic" need to be unchecked/disabled on the radio and this is how I have mine set.
Can someone help with a "sanity check"
