N1MM: Radio goes into TX mode when in S&P mode

Been pulling my hair out (fortunately, I have some hair to pull out) over this strange phenomenon.

Planning to use a WinKeyer in the CQ WPX contest this week-end and I thought I had it all working smoothly, BUT......NO.
Running Morse Runner in N1MM, at first "Run" mode and then I decided to switch to S&P mode. As soon as I did that the radio went into
TX mode, with RF going out to the antenna and there was no way to stop it. It was a constant carrier that was going out and I couldn't get the radio to stop transmitting until I clicked on the Power icon in the GUI. Clicked on said icon again only to find the radio was still in TX mode. I then powered down the radio using the power switch on the radio, switched power back up and opened Thetis and radio was in RX mode.

For the life of me, I can't figure this out! :x

I am hoping to regain my sanity

This is starting to sound like an RFI problem.

Is N1MM keying the radio via Thetis and a virtual serial cable? Or is it using hardware keying of some kind?

Scott,

WinKeyer is plugged into the front of the unit, and my iambic paddle is plugged into WinKeyer (just like it says in the instructions). WinKeyer has been specified inside N1MM as the keyer, with the Iambic paddle inside Thetis disabled. WinKeyer communicates with the PC via COM5.

I haven't had RFI for a long time. Perhaps, WinKeyer is just susceptible to picking up RF (I have ferrite snap-ons on USB cable and the phone cable from WInKeyer to front KEY jack of the radio.

NOTE, I use very little RF out (1-2W) while testing into a dummy load so I doubt it this has to do with RF floating around. All works well when in Run mode but after I switch to S&P mode, the TX goes into transmit mode, sending a steady carrier, almost as if choosing S&P mode inside N1MM somehow interprets it as asserting MOX.

Use the Thetis built-in keyer but keep the Winkeyer attached. See if it locks up with that. If it does then disconnect the Winkeyer and try the built-in keyer again. If it works ok then it seems like it might be RFI associated with the Winkeyer.

I did a video a year ago on my settings with Thetis and N1MM. CW, SSB, RTTY with MMTTY and WSJTX. Works great.

Scott, No RFI, something else with parameters. Making progress.

Sam,

Thanks for the link. Great that you did that. Just need to look very carefully at the screen, to see it all (using reading glasses).
I forget now if you are using a WinKeyer.

Juha,

Were you able to fix this by changing your N1MM macro file?

George,

All is well. Also, I am using the latest default macros (for use in the CQ WPX contest).
