Discord question

Postby rbduck » Thu Aug 22, 2024 1:39 pm

I did not know what group to put this in so I put it here. Please feel free to move it to where it might make better sense. My question is directed at Richie. I'd ask the question in Discord but I can't post there yet. In that app, there is a statement that indicates to place a check mark after agreeing to the rules section. I see no place to out a check mark. What am I missing there? I tried the "/help" command, but that brings nothing back. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.

I think you may be confusing Roles with Rules.
I think you just read down through all the rules and agree.

If you want to become involved with testing you need to click the check mark in Roles. In the Roles section the check box is green with a number next to it i.e. 23. If you click the green box with the check mark the number will advance to 24 letting Richie know you want to be a tester.

Not sure which index heading your comment should reside. This forum has so much valuable information. Hope it doesn't go away.

I hope that helps to clear it up some.

Ruben, you have created 2 accounts, both are members so you will see all the channels, there is a video in 'welcome' to show you how to turn all the channels on if some are missing. You then need to visit the 'roles' channel and follow the instructions in the message to get access to testing.

Just to add, discord isn't aimed to replace this. It is a place to hang out, share ideas, interact, test the dev, do demos, share screens. It is daunting to those who are not used to it, but is a very modern free solution and becomes second nature when you get used to it.

When i post a new build into this AL forum it gets 2000 views, and a handful of replies. Something had to change, at least for me. Going forward I won't be posting any wip builds here, just dev_X releases which have gone through the testing over on the discord server.

Edit: not sure why this is in this section of the forum but there we go. As a sneak peak, this is what is going on over in #testing on the Discord server.

Thanks Richie and Rob,

Richie, the reason I have two set up is because after I followed your INVITE and set it up I realized I didn't have ready access to the several servers I already had set up. The second one I signed on as it the one I will use. Even though I am on several servers I have never really got into the workings of Discord. I know when i get the "jist' of it, it will become second nature. I have tried on other servers, but it never seems to go anywhere. Let me try and see where it leads now. Thanks again

OK here is an example. Under "Roles" there is the statement, " To become a tester , to take part in active testing, provide feedback and access to early builds then click the (green checkbox) below." I see no checkbox. Anywhere. I know there is something so obvious that I'm missing it. :D

I realize that Discord is not a replacement to this forum. Scott has this forum set up second to none. I just thought it is time for me to dig into Discord. What I learn here will help me on the other servers.

Also I see no #testing channel

That bottom checkmark doesn't exist in my version. There must be something I need to do before this. I also never saw an "accept" below the rules. list..

I did get a place to agree to the RULES when I first created a new account. I did not get the same thing when I logged in using my current account I use throughout my other Discord accounts. I get nothing under the statement in ROLES. No place for a check mark under ROLES. (not yelling, just capitalized for clarification) Maybe the light in my head will go on soon. I appreciate the help.
