I'm considering upgrading from my IC-7300 to one of the later Anan radios from Apache labs. Wondering what features I'd be missing if I choose one of the new radios that doesn't require a computer.

But more realistically, if I'm running a PC with Thetis, will my existing PCs be usable? My must-have features are noise reduction and diversity reception.

I have Dell Ryzen 7 laptop with 12GB memory and a Radeon RX Vega graphics card.
I also have an i5 NUC at 1.3 GHz with 8 GB ram.
Or do I need a "big box" computer with room for graphics/sound cards to make the investment in the Anan ecosystem worthwhile? Since I'm tight on space, I'm hoping that's not the case.

Short answer: the laptop is good to go, the NUC might be marginal.

Longer answer:

The Ryzen 7 should be more than sufficient. The i5 will probably run, but it's a pretty low-spec i5 at 1.3 GHz, so perhaps not as well as you might like. A high-spec i5 will be fine.

Any DirectX compatible graphics adapter, which pretty much means anything these days unless it's a dinosaur, will work fine. Thetis does not require high-spec memory, storage, or graphics. Windows is the driver where memory is concerned, and 8 GB is a practical minimum for good Windows performance.

You do need GigE LAN support. A big monitor or multiple monitors is a very nice to have. Thetis loves more cores, and the Ryzen has at least 8, so that's good to go.

If you ultimately want to upgrade your sound hardware, an external, ASIO-capable, USB sound interface is the way to go, e.g. Behringer, M-Audio, PreSonus, etc.
