G2 with face and mike into radio causing problems with Audio.
Ok after extensive testing for RF DUE TO AN ECHO while transmitting on my G2 with face and balanced mike plugged in the back I downloaded Thetis and still a slight echo while plugged into XLR balanced mike 6.5mm.plug.In frustration I unplugged the mike from radio after trying other mikes with the same results.By chance the laptop I had for Thetis had a mike inbuilt, when using this mike and transmitting I had perfect clean Audio with no echo. The RE-20 studio mike has a well shielded lead with numerous chokes along the way. Also I dont understand what the Local Mike box in TX menu settings is for, when it is ticked it stops noise in my mike meter when no PTT engaged ,with it unticked I see noise showing on the Mike meter.I cant help but think that something in the process of the mike and pre amp is crossed and Audio issues with echo (NOT RF) with mike plugged into G2..I have now ordered an Audio Interface model so I can use my RE-20 Mike.

You've already observed using the audiotest app that with no RF present, the mic audio is fine. From there it goes through exactly the same processing in Thetis as hundreds of other radios. The only bit about this that is new in G2 is the balanced preamp - and with no RF present that's working fine.
Had you tried grounding the 6.3mm plug (eg with a crocodile clip) to the adjacent ground stud?

Yes I did ground the 6.5mm.it already tested to ground and all of the outer sleeve. The quetion I have is what is the local mike box in the TX menu, some say there maybe a small mike in G2 that is picking up audio but I dont think so.Also nobody has addressed the question why im hearing noise in the mike level meter with is not ticked and cuts out when its ticked. Also this doent address why echo in audio when plugged in to G2 and clean while not plugged in and through a pc.

I know a multimeter will tell you it is grounded, but probably 30cm inside the chassis. That length is enough to start to develop a few volts of RF.
There is a new manual being written for piHPSDR that will explain exactly what the controls do. Until that's written I can't help. There do seem to be mic controls in two places, and I don't know why. But I think "local mic" will be selecting between the hardware microphone and a USB audio source, if you have one. There is most definitely NOT a microphone in G2 itself!

G2 No face, I also experienced Echo RFI type Rumble with actual NO rfi present, using Balanced Line input via Thetis, multiple ANAN 7000 user's as RX sounding board, very distinct Echo and low distortion,
Distance multi path type Echo and which sounds like RF intrusion, XLR Balanced Input preamplifier is fixed , over loads extremely easy, never tried with a 10db attenuator
VAC with external SC maybe the solution, which is a shame,
asked Tony via support RE XLR input issue,
see what transpires

Hello everybody,
I only had irradiations on 15m which were picked up when modulating via the cable of the external loudspeaker. These resulted in extremely distorted modulation. Since blocking with a toroid did not help, I installed a common mode choke. On the other bands I had echoes on the modulation at the beginning. I fixed this with large toroidal cores at the microphone input and the 12V power supply.
I have a balanced dipole 10 metres above the shack and 400W.

I wonder what the TRS input ref level is +4db or -10db?
