Does anyone know if the PIHPSDR is going to have TCI support at some point? I know Richie is working on a new version.

AFAIK Richie is not working on piHPSDR.

I normally do an internet search on unfamiliar acronyms, just sayin'

That's quite an interesting video that Richie just published. However, it provides absolutely no evidence that he is going to be working on piHPSDR or p2app.

It does demonstrate his dissatisfaction with the status quo in terms of the G2 operating system configuration and managing that configuration. More specifically, Richie has:

a) Performed a fresh, clean, bare-metal, 64-bit Raspian installation with an overclock of 2 GHz (instead of the stock 1.5 GHz).

Under those conditions:

b) Demonstrated that piHPSDR can be run with two receivers at 768 KHz sample rate and 30 Hz refresh rate.
c) Demonstrated that piHPSDR can be run with two receivers at 1.5 MHz sample rate and 15 Hz refresh rate.
d) Demonstrated that any additional tasks, in this case VNC, causes problems with sequence errors and whatnot, i.e. the Pi CPU is effectively max'd out even with the overclock.

This is in contrast to Thetis being able to run dual receivers at 1.5 MHz sample rate and 60 Hz update rate without breaking a sweat on moderately speedy PC hardware.

Then he demonstrated, under the same conditions:

e) P2app runs a bit over 30% CPU on the Pi, whereas at the stock Pi clock rate it was way up at over 70%.

Finally, Richie demonstrates a control panel and OS scripts to make the use and maintenance of the G2 operating system much, MUCH easier.

I do hope he provides an .iso image of that configuration for all who use the G2.

I agree, some of the changes that were made look very nice. Would love to get an ISO image for sure. I don't know much about who the developer is, only thing I know is that his name is Laurence I understand.

I'm the developer of the G2 firmware and p2app. The OS images came originally from the factory. Christoph Wullen DL1YCF is the active developer nowadays of piHPSDR; it was originally written by John Melton G0ORX.
