A watered down version of PiHPSDR/Thetis

Good evening all:

I posted here in early 2024 regarding an accessibility SDR project to access the Anan G2 line of Apache Labs transceivers but I've had no success with getting anyone on board. Perhaps it's more difficult than I realize easier said than done. I can appreciate that the open source aspect of development is in it self a hobby, an experimental means and is volunteer driven. Not being a programmer perhaps that's another factor here, again easier said than done. It's perfectly easy to develop a program where the only tools really to use it are your hands and eyes but quite another to add on a capability to have the information spoken. However I think it can be done if an idea is presented here. This is what I'm thinking: A G2 or G2 1K with an actual front panel with knobs and buttons to perform the every day operation of the radio and perhaps a watered down version of PiHPSDR in which assigned function keys or shortcut key combinations could pole the radio for data and speak it through a windows, Mac or linux based connected computer and appropriate screen reader. As a blind or visually impaired ham, we have no need for a 4K resolution displayed waterfall or pan adapter. Just the menu bar and tabs, check boxes etc and the ability to hear the data from the radio via shortcut or function keys. The external computer would take the place of the touch screen. Now on the other hand, where there's a screen reader for Linux called Orca and it can run on a Raspberry pi, the core of the G2, if a keyboard was connected directly, could Orca be installed on the G2 directly and speak the radio parameters? Could shortcut or function keys be programmed here and have things announced? I do think that it's important to explore the potential of this project and I request that if interested, hit me up on QRZ to email me off this form and together we can get the ball rolling on this. Ok there's a Smart SDR for Mac and IOS for the flex and there's a windows program as well but it would be nice to have the Apache Labs and others as options as it appears that SDR tech is now the present and not the future. I look forward to hearing from you on this.
