Been playing with mousing and limits on panadapter using k9pre5... Many many many thanks for improving thetis Richie... Hope YOU keep having fun with it and do it because YOU get something from it... we just happen to benefit as well

May I offer a suggestion... of course, do it only if YOU will get something from it (fun, challenge, useful function, etc...)

Allow mouse to pan right/left (when on top of panadapter horizontal row) also when on that mode that gets enabled with right click (yellow "hunting" bar). While you are at it change its cursor to the <--> when hovering there vs just when clicking there?

Thanks again and if there is already a way to do the above, then someone let me know

Request separate slider control for Master AF and MON Gain...
The existing MASTER AF GAIN control shares these functions and is switched by the PTT.
This often results in overly loud MON Gain if the control is inadvertently adjusted while transmitting (typically in DJ Controller slider).

Midi-interface:

* 2TONE is missing in the mapping (or I've overlooked it several times)

* Toggle Wheel to VFOA/VFOB (last entry in commands)
What should this do? I assumed this swapped wheel control between VFOA and VFOB, but it does nothing (at least nothing noticable).

A small one, I think.

For MNF when hitting +MNF, I would like it to dump roughly in the middle of the passband vs the zero offset point as it's kind of tricky to grab the notch filter vs the edge of the passband filter. So basically an offset of say 1kHz or so from the current dial frequency so it's easier to drag and move the MNF as created.

nope, it just recovers the stored input/output device into vac2 from the tx profile. Save the tx profile with VAC2 enabled to have vac2 re-enable when the profile is selected again.

Just made a test from 21k5 up to 21k7, there Auto AGC is re-enabled.
Since 21k8 it does not work, even with a blank database.

This is strange,
have k9pre7 tested again with blank database, AUTO-AGC is not re-enabled at startup.
So what can be the culprit.

Today I have tested k9pre7 on a different computer and re-enabled Auto-AGC is working fine there. So I shutdown Thetis with AUTO-AGC enabled, now copied the OpenHPSDR appdata folder and OpenHPSDR Thetis folder (from the working computer) to my HAM computer to ensure all folders are equal, fired up Thetis on HAM computer and nothing, again AUTO-AGC refuses to re-enable.

Would be interesting which database entry is responsible for re-enable.

I have no idea why it is the way it is.

btw, same with k9pre8.

Edit: I did a Win10 inplace update (although a complete installation was made 1 month ago) and AUTO-AGC is back to normal.
Still don't understand why it worked up to 21k7 without problems.

But no matter, the main thing is that it works again.

Edit: I have identified "KB5010472 Cumulative Update .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10" as reason for my troubles.

I looked up the CAT-manual, ZZZT should be unassigned atm.

I request that the ID timer count down instead of count up. In my experience timers always or almost always count down. It's just the natural order of things!

At least, please make down an option in the timer's Options-2 setup dialg.

I need to revise my edit. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3861&start=210#p18093. KB5010472 is not the cause.
The problem is still there. Interesting is the fact that chkAutoAGCRX1 and chkAutoAGCRX2 are set to true in the database. "Auto AGC RX1" is also checked in Setup>DSP>ADC/ALC.
But in Thetis the AGC Slider remains grey and Auto AGC did not work. It almost seems like the GUI will not be updated.

The picture shows a running Thetis with a gray slider and the current settings in the setup. This combination should actually be impossible.

Is there a possibility that a certain Win10 service is responsible for this?
My system is trimmed for performance and a number of services are therefore deactivated.

In 21k7 it works without problems.
So something must have changed since 21k8.

Since this behavior also occurs with a blank database, I started to examine.

I've now gone the hard way and installed a clean Win10. All suggested updates were installed.
Thetis installed and updated to 21k9rc1(clean Database, noting configured except radio model). So far everything works as it should, including AutoAGC. No other programs and drivers installed.
Now I have installed the drivers for the MIDI controller and imported my MIDI profile, started Thetis and Bingo, AutoAGC no longer works.
MIDI driver deactivated in Device Manager, Thetis started and AutoAGC works again.
OK, so it has something to do with MIDI.
In the MIDI profile I have deleted the mapping for "RX1 AGC Level" and now RX1 AutoAGC remains green.
For "RX2 AGC Level" I have not deleted the mapping yet and RX2 AutoAGC is still grey. Now I have also deleted this mapping and AutoAGC for RX2 works again and is green. All good for now, except RX1/2 AGC Level should not be mapped to a Knob/Slider to prevent a non working / non re-enabled AutoAGC.

So if someone has not mapped RX1/2 AGC levels to a knob/slider, this behavior is not noticeable.

I don't think this error only occurs with Hercules DJControll mp3 LE.

Conclusion: Something regarding AGC must have definitely changed in the code from 21k7 to 21k8.

The change :

change: dragging agc gain slider, clicking G-/F-, changing gain via midi/cat/memory/andromeda slider window will cause 'auto agc' to turn off

I will double check that it is protected against same value updates. No chance to fix it today though, will attempt to sort it out for Sunday release.

Re-posting this request because the behavior still exists in k9rc1 (original request was in November).

The sync'ed up/down shift/dragging of the spectrum for RX1 and RX2 is very nice, but it always locks both receivers to the same db level as soon as dragging begins. IMO that's not a good thing, because odds are that the receivers are on different antennas with different receive signal strengths between them (my RX1 is on a tuned dipole and RX2 is on an active mag loop). Once I get both receivers set to optimum spectrum displays I'd like to be able to sync-drag them while maintaining the preset "delta" between them.

Mark, there are many requests dating way further back than November last year. There is loads of work left to do on the multi-meter update for example, but I haven't had a chance to look at that since last year. That said, I did spend some time on this delta drag a couple of weeks ago :

Whilst it is ok to delta drag, when one of the scales hits either the top or bottom, then the delta changes. It could be made into a 'spring' delta, but the amount of work vs the gain was not worth the time at the time, so I scrapped the prototype. I am sure it will be revisited at some point.

Edit: this doesn't stop anyone else taking the code from tapr, and implementing it, and sending it either to myself or Doug in the meantime.

I setup my DJ Starlight and set both left/right sliders as agc rx1 and rx2. I had to use bome midi translator to absorb a bunch of other midi messages coming off the slider.

When the software starts, all is fine, the auto agc stays green. As soon as a slider is touched it turns off, and works as expected for either rx1 and rx2. However, I did fix an issue with RX2 using RX1 data, so that might have been related. The only way for it to turn off is if the assigned agc level is different to current. Please let me know if it is fixed when rc2 comes out.

Rich, my whole point was that it's highly unlikely that both receivers would be seeing the same receive power, given the assumption that they're on different antennae. So what good is it to lock the receivers to the same level during dragging?

If either scale hits top or bottom during drag, hopefully it wouldn't be a lot of work to simply let that one go at that point, and when the drag is complete then update the delta.

Not being argumentative (I seem to be saying that a lot lately, lol), but I don't see any benefit to having both receivers locked to the same level during dragging or any other time.

I'm fine with letting this go now, I just wanted to clarify my concern regarding ever locking both receivers to the same level.

that is great, because I am not doing anything about it in the short term. If you use a single ADC for Rx1 and Rx2 ddc's, then it is useful, as I do. Also, dropping one is not the correct approach, as your delta becomes irrelevant as soon as one hits a limit. It should either be springy, or stop everything as soon as limit is hit. It is on the list, and will be looked at eventually. In the mean time, avoid it if it doesn't work for you.
