GUI modifications to move control buttons

Postby Ric-W5IHL » Fri Nov 01, 2024 3:41 pm

Control buttons for the 2nd Rx are placed along the bottom of the GUI. I would like to explore moving them, circled in red, to more intuitive locations.

I don't believe this is a skin change though. It looks like Thetis would have to be modified. The meter mods with detachable/attachable windows would be an example of one possible solution.

I have not loaded VStudio yet to explore the code and see how the GUI & various button groups are organized and how their controls work but having used the KE9NS PowerSDR modified for the legacy Flexes I want to believe its possible since Thetis is a PowerSDR variant.

See: https://ke9ns.com/flexpage.html

Has any work been done on this concept yet? Pointers? Obstacles?

Tnx, Rik

Hi Rik,

Not sure if you're aware but Richie MW0LGE (here's an invite to his Discord server site: https://discord.gg/WDaMWk2m) has alluded to his intent to eventually make many of those button and slider groups customizable, but that's just a part of what's on his GIANT plate.

Along that same subject line, it appears you aren't availing yourself of the functionality currently in Thetis v2.10.3.6 to customize a number of the button and meter groups already. If you go to Settings>Appearance>Multi Meters you will find the option to create a sizable array of custom Containers of buttons, meters and much more. Richie is currently adding greatly to that flexibility so stay tuned! ;)

To add a bit to Mark's post, you can hide the original band buttons and Filter selection buttons and replace them with your own custom buttons anywhere on the main screen including in place of the original buttons.

Thanks Mark & James! Not sure how I missed the fact the variable multi-meter containers included buttons too!

I remember watching a YouTube video, by Ritchie, abt the meters but the buttons flew by me.

Looks like this will get me close to where I want to go.

And tnx for the Discord invite. There is a lot going on there.
