Buffer sizes don't save - Why?

Postby JJ4SDR » Sat Jan 25, 2025 12:08 am

Playing with "Buffer size" on the DSP->Options form. For some reason the buffer sizes don't get saved. Why would that be?

Oh, I see, I assume that for the changes to save I will need to resave my TX profile.

Yep, sometimes when I'm playing in the settings I'll enable the Transmit tab's "Highlight TX Profile Save Items" so I'm kept aware of what gets saved with a TX Profile.

Thanks for that reminder Mark! How did I overlook this (and who knows how many other features) feature  !

Mark,

I don't want to get too far off the topic but I was wondering. Most items I have read about filter type indicate it is preferential to run "linear phase." I haven't played with these settings yet. Any particular reason you are running "low latency?" Just curious.

Ruben,

Great question! Five years ago I did some A/B testing of the audio quality between Low Latency and Linear Phase and posted the results in this forum, and neither Scott nor myself could discern any difference in the audio. Given that Low Latency is, well, low latency, I decided that's the way I'm going forward.

Here's that thread (the audio files have been removed but the thread history remains): viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4081&p=18624&hilit=scott+recording#p18604

That's quite an interesting thread Mark. Thanks for sharing that. I'm going to try low latency for awhile. With my hearing diminishing as it is, I'll take anything that improves audio quality. Thanks again!
