Could someone please explain what is the purpose of the little red indicator in the left upper quadrant?
Thank you, Alex AK1MD

It shows that the frame could not be rendered in time. This is normally when you have the FPS set too high, or you are using the vsync option and the fps is set higher than the refresh of your monitor. I see that you are achieving around 37 fps, and you may have 60 fps configured.

Ideally you should adjust fps so that it doesn't show, or shows very rarely.

Various things impact render time, these are the main ones.

X dimension of window (width)
Gradient fill or regular fill of the spectral area
Active peak hold display
Anti aliasing
rx2 enabled as double render work

Thank you for the reply.
Does it mean I should decrease FPS in the display window?

yes, to a level where the red indicator rarely shows. You can also disable those features I listed above if you want to reduce render work.
