Thetis Development Build 2.10.3.6 dev_7 available

Postby ramdor » Wed Jul 24, 2024 12:52 am

Hi all,

I have just released dev_7 for 2.10.3.6.

There will likely be a few more development iterations before we finalise version 2.10.3.6. I plan to add some new meter types and further refine the IO features introduced in the dev_7 release before reaching a final state. Laurence is also working on additions for the new G2 larger screen models, which will be included in a later development stage. Enjoy experimenting with the new IO technology if it piques your curiosity.

I have made a few vids on the IO tech and they are probably worth a quick watch if you are interested.

Link to the release over on GitHub here : https://github.com/ramdor/Thetis/releas ... .3.6-dev_7

It is probably worth making a DB backup this time, as quite a bit is happening in there with the save/loading of this new I/O related data.

Cheers, Richie.

v2.10.3.6 Change Log - WIP dev_7
- [add] MultiMeterIO - get external data - use it in the MultiMeter system. Watch video : https://youtu.be/oYRrm8YpD24
- [add] new meter item, Rotator. Requires a data feed using the new Multi Meter io. : https://youtu.be/1LmUromJQNQ

Thanks as always Richie, look fwd to playing with the new meters.
I just need some clever person to point me in the right direction to get the info from my SPE 1.3 amp into the new meters.

Richie,

Is it possible to add a variable for text for the QSO Timer counter?

@Gary, what would it be used by? At the moment it is just consumed by a Text Overlay. I could output text overlay text to the network io, or add it to the vfo output if its state is needed externally.

Hi Paul, there is an api doc for the expert spe's, but without one sat on the desk here it would be awkward to test/iterate. It needs some middle ware that takes the data and converts in to json/xml/raw (raw = : delimited pairs) and forwards it on to the new io system.

As it happens I have built something that does just that for the Array Solutions Power Master I . I am waiting for them to send me the protocol docs for the PM2.

Richie, if possible, could you please add a command to center text that is shown in a text overlay?

Tnx

Richie,
How would I be able to use the new rotator function in Thetis to talk to my Hygain -EZ rotator control box?
It uses a com port on the PC. I am presently using DDUtil to control it.
Thanks,

invest in pstrotator, or wait for the tcpip client to be added to multimeter io. DDuitl has a tcpip server, and the rotator can be controlled via that.

ddutil docs...

GETROTOR - Gets Rotor position
Form: GETROTOR \r\n
Uses: GETROTOR\r\n

Richie

Yesterday, while I was configuring my I/O meters, I was thinking that it would be very interesting to have an option to modify the text overlay based on the output of a variable.

This morning when I woke up I saw that you are already working on that option.

Now we can configure warnings based on high SWR, involuntary antenna changes, etc, etc...

Fantastic, you are the best!

Thank you very much

Hi Richie,
Great work on the meters. Have you posted an update to the latest build. The link on GitHub goes to the older version of dev_7 without a selection for led indicators or the new rotator update. Also quick note that the background selection in rotators only selects the black background.
Thanks again.

cheers.

Richie,

It looks like this is the beginning of controls - not just meters - in containers, eventually allowing much more flexibility in configuring the console.

Is it possible (or will it become possible) to put the band selector in its own container?

Once the VFO module is completed with band, mode, and filter functionality, band/mode/filter will be implemented as separate modules. Users will be able to define the number of columns for button arrangements. Skin support is unlikely. This will allow users to position a band button box wherever they prefer. Eventually, we will introduce the capability to hide or remove legacy components. I anticipate that meters will gradually transition into more advanced meters and widgets.

Rchie,

Can you split VFO module into to separated modules, one for VFO A and another one for VFO B?

Thanks

Note: if you have a vfo meter item in use, remove and re-add it.

R.

v2.10.3.6 Change Log - WIP dev_8 (ongoing)
- [add] Led Indicator meter item - use variables in c# style code to provide a Boolean expression for the indicator eg %swr% > 2.0 or %split% == "SPLIT"
- [add] Added enable G2 panel; not enabled if Andromeda panel enabled and vice versa Added button actions for band selection - G8NJJ
- [add] ability to create default G2 settings - G8NJJ
- [add] band selector on the vfo display in multimeters. Just click the band text.
- [add] filter selector on the vfo display in multimeters. Just click the filter text
- [add] mode selector on the vfo display in multimeters. Just click the mode text

Richie,

It has occurred to me that a user could possibly end up putting a HUGE amount of work into building up a suite of multi meters, which would all get thrown away if he ever had to reset his database for any reason.

In that light, would it be possible for you to add an option to separately save the multi-meter settings into a separate file that could be reloaded after a database reset?

Mark,

In the mean time, the workaround for this is to make regular backup copies of your database, say daily or weekly. Then if you have to reset you can (after resetting) import an old one, going back until you find one that fixes your problem. You'd only lose settings changes made between the time of that particular backup and today.
