Changing from Static to Dynamic IP address

Postby JJ4SDR » Tue Jan 14, 2025 9:31 pm

I am changing from static IP to dynamic IP address. See screen captures when using the Bootloader.

Following the images, I posed some questions. It has been a while since I did this previously (this is another 7000 DLE MKII) so I am not a 100% about this.

The main reason for my questions is that:
The noise floor on the other ANAN radio is quite a bit higher than it is on my "original" radio. Went on 20 meters. On my radio it shows "-124" and on the other hardware "-118". Same antenna used on both radios of course.

Board with Bootloader found.

Put in Zeros in all fields

After putting in all Zeros, I closed/quit Bootloader.

Q1: I assume I don't need to "Browse" for "Board Programmer" if the only thing I do is switch from current static IP to DHCP (dynamic IP), correct? I did not!
Q2: Browsing for "Board Programmer" is only needed if I change to another version of Protocol 2 (in this case), correct?
Q3: I was able to successfully change to Dynamic IP (at least no error messages popped up) and quit. The bootloader "warned" me that "New IP address will use DHCP," I assume that I did this correctly.
Q4: From what I know, the fellow whose radio this one is used had Protocol 2, v2.1.26c.rbf installed, but when I start up Thetis, it comes up as 2.2.2. Why would that be?
Q5: On my ANAN, I used Protocol 2, v.2.1.18, but when I open Thetis, it comes up as 2.2.2 as well. Why would that be?
Q6: I used Thetis 2.10.3.4 on my radio whereas the other ANAN used 2.10.3.6 so, on both ANANs, it shows 2.10.3.4 which makes sense.

Awaiting for advice!

P.S. On my own, "original" radio, I was using Thetis

Everything you have done and written is correct.

Thetis report firmware version 2.2.2 in the hardware because...that is what is loaded! No mystery! See this topic: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=4972

If that firmware is working fine it's probably best to leave it alone.

The question about the difference in noise floor is probably associated with calibration. Did you ever calibrate Thetis with your original 7000? If so, and you are using the same database with Thetis, then the calibration is not correct for the new 7000. If none of that applies, then it's still probably a matter of calibration. Do you have a trusted, calibrated signal source you can use to do that? Also, make sure you don't accidentally have a bunch of attenuation cranked in.

Scott,

It was the calibration. Now, both radios exhibit very "similar" levels :D !

Mark, K1LSB, who is a "neighbor" also asked that I double-check calibration.

All is fine!
